Courtney Greatrex, a 22-year-old woman from Finsbury Park, north London, was left in tears after a van load of roofers started cat calling her while she walked to the subway. When she asked them to leave her alone they started screaming obscenities at her, so she took their picture. Printed clear as day on the side of the van was the name and phone number for their roofing company.
She wrote about the event on Facebook saying,
Before 8am this morning I got repeatedly goaded by these three men in their van in slow traffic. They followed me down the road ringing a bike bell and whistling at me to look at them and laughing. So I took a picture of their van, told them to leave me alone, and they hid their faces but not before calling me a f*****g whore. For walking to the tube. Don’t get me wrong, sexual harassment is alive and well in London and this happens most mornings. But today I’m not accepting it. Don’t worry boys, wolf whistling from your company car means your boss is about to find out all about it!”
After posting the pictures to Facebook, Courtney’s friends and family decided it was time to give Aqua Roofing a call to voice their complaint. According to the Daily Mail, Aqua Roofing fired the men responsible for such rude behavior. Courtney told the Daily Mail, “I spoke to their boss, who dealt with it really well, but the company need to take ownership of the fact that these men were in a car marked with their details. He called me back to say that one of the staff members has been sacked and they are properly investigating the other two employees tomorrow. The company say they haven’t received a complaint like this before, but I might just be the first to stand up for myself and have evidence.”
