Fans of the classic children’s shows Catweazle and Worzel Gummidge were left heartbroken at the passing of actor Geoffrey Bayldon.
Bayldon’s death at the age of 93 has been confirmed by the BBC’s Lizo Mziimba who tweeted, “Sad news. Actor Geoffrey Bayldon, best known for playing Catweazle and Worzel Gummidge‘s Crowman has passed away aged 93 his agency has says (sic).”
Bayldon spent the majority of his adult life as an actor on both stage and screen. After turning down the chance to play both the first and second doctor on the immensely popular BBC series Doctor Who, Bayldon would go on to play two of the most iconic children’s characters of all time, the Crowman and Catweazle.
