A wonderful woman by the name of Victoria Goss is the founder of Last Chance Corral, an amazing foundation that rescues horses that are meant to be put to death and help nurse them to live as to an old age.
You may be wondering, “Why would baby horses just be bred and then killed?” Known as “Nurse Mare Foals” they are simply brought into the world only to keep the milk flowing from their mothers. Eventually, the mothers are shipped off to another baby horse that is considered more valuable. The valuable baby horse grows up to become a sport horse, while the orphaned foals are left to die.
How is this legal? Sadly it is and every year these beautiful foals are euthanized just because they aren’t bred for any other reason than to keep milk flowing from their mothers.
Victoria Goss first learned about this practice and decided she wanted to do everything she could to rescue as many of these beautiful foals to nurse them to strong and healthy horses. They can then be adopted out to people that actually love them and will continue to care for them.
