TV icon Luke Perry died today after suffering a massive stroke earlier this week.
The 52-year-old actor passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank, California. According to TMZ, Perry never fully recovered from his stroke. Representatives from Perry’s estate said doctors had given him sedatives hoping his brain could recover, but the damage was too extensive.
Perry was most well known for his roles as a teen heart-throb in the early 1980s before making his big break with Beverly Hills 90210. More recently Perry had returned to the spotlight as Archie’s father in Riverdale, a gritty dramatized version of the Archie comics.
Perry’s representative told TMZ “The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world.”
