Emmanuel and his brother, Ahmed, were discovered by nuns in in the middle of a war zone in Iraq when they were babies. They were laying inside a shoebox and they had severely undeveloped limbs due to the chemical warfare in the community. They were brought to the Mother Teresa Orphanage in Baghdad and discovered by an amazing woman by the name of Moira Therese Kelly. Moira brought the two babies to her home to provide them with the medical care they needed, falling in love with them in the process. Moira adopted both of the boys and took care of all necessary surgeries they needed to survive.
These two little babies have grown into very talented and resilient young men. Ahmed has grown into an incredible swimmer, regardless of being a quadruple amputee. He represented Australia at the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Emmanuel has an incredible gift in his voice and auditioned for The X Factor in 2011.
Watch his performance of John Lennon’s “Imagine” and listen to his story as he wows the judges and bringing each of them to tears.
