If you’ve ever spent any time in the big city, you’re all too familiar with the obnoxiously hateful street preacher.
Sadly the cost of free speech and religion is that anyone can yell their opinion on the streets, sometimes with a megaphone.
While an attention seeking preacher accosts the customers of a local diner with his hateful rhetoric, one young teen solved the problem in the most Scottish way possible, with bagpipes.
The unnamed preacher was extolling the dangers of same-sex marriage on the local economy when the faint sounds of a bagpipe began to rise in the distance. The notes of “Scotland the Brave” steadily grew louder as young Daniel Boyle walked into view with the calm precision of a professional piper on parade.
Brilliantly, the young lad resolved the issue without violence or aggression, which is probably what the preacher desperately wanted from the crowd.
Although the sound of bagpipes is not uniformly appreciated even among music lovers, his serenade received a standing ovation from the laughing crowd. Moments later a Police van arrives in response to multiple business owners complaining about the preacher’s disturbance. After the video cuts off, the preacher vacated the premises and the young piper does a victory lap in front of a cheering crowd.
A video of the event was shared on social media and quickly went viral. Viewers around the world congratulated and supported Boyle’s clever solution. “Some heroes don’t wear capes,” said Liam Compton on Facebook.
