In February 2015, a beautiful 2-year-old girl, named Vivian, was diagnosed with childhood leukemia. She is treated at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and her view from her room is of a construction site.
Vivian became fascinated with the site and would wave to the construction workers. Vivian’s mother, Ginger, stated, “We had to wave until someone waved back.” Eventually two of the workers, Travis Barnes and Greg Combs, noticed the little girl in the window waving and watching them. They started to wave and smile back at her, delighting Vivian.
One special day, the two men were waving to get Vivian’s attention and as she looked out the window with her mom, she noticed they had spray-painted, “Get Well Soon” onto one of the beams.
They even went to visit her in the hospital and introduce themselves to her.
