This DIY craft project is a great way to obscure a window without losing any natural light. Whether you’ve got an ugly view on the other side of the glass or just need a bit more privacy, this trick is perfect! It’s cheap, easy, and absolutely gorgeous once complete. You’ll need the following items:
- 1/4 cup luke-warm water
- 2 cups boiling water
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- thin decorative lace
- wide bristle paint brush
Mix 2 tablespoons of cornstarch with 1/4 cup luke-warm water. Bring two cups of water to boil, then add the cornstarch mixture. Stir and let the paste cool. While the paste is cooling down, clean the windows and cut the strips of lace to fit.
Use a paintbrush to apply a thin layer of the cool paste to the glass. Press the lace strips against the glass and then cover them again with a thick layer of the cornstarch paste. If you’re using thin fabric instead of lace, press any air bubbles to the edges before applying the second layer of paste.
The whole job can be completed in less than an hour according to Annabel Vita. If you change your mind and want a clear window back, just wash with warm water and everything will come right off!
