Micah Calloway, a father of two with a third child on the way, began his morning as he usually did. He had no idea his life was about to change forever.
Micah and a handful of coworkers were given the assignment of dismantling and removing a light post in Oklahoma City. Micah works for the nearby electric business, and it’s not unusual to encounter more than a few hazards on the job.
He recalls the day in question as being especially windy and humid, which could have contributed to the horrible catastrophe that was about to take place.
Micah was clinging to the crane-mounted light pole when a blast of wind pushed it into a live power wire.
Micah was unable to release his hold on the pole for several frightful seconds. Before slipping into unconsciousness, he knew he was being electrocuted.
The electrocution sent Micah into cardiac arrest and the EMTs reported that he technically died twice. He was “out” for about four full minutes, according to the paramedics.
Micah was taken urgently to the hospital, but he wouldn’t awaken for another 32 hours. He noticed his concerned parents waiting by his bedside the instant he opened his eyes, according to KFOR.
