A small single-engine airplane crashed in the middle of a busy city street in Mukilteo, Washington. The crash occurred around 3:45 pm on May 2nd, 2017 near the intersection of Harbour Pointe Boulevard and Hwy 535.
The entire crash was captured by a dash cam video. According to Everett, Washington’s Herald Net, the pilot attempted to restart the engine after losing power just a few minutes after takeoff. Unable to restart the plane at an altitude of just 500 feet, the pilot began looking for a place to land.
While trying to touch down on Harbour Pointe Boulevard, the plane clipped a set of power lines. The plane’s fuel cells were ruptured on impact spilling fuel over roads and cars. Two vehicles were scorched as a spark ignited the fuel. Unbelievably, no serious injuries were reported.
The crashed caused a wide-spread power outage which was repaired before the end of the day.
