Rob, co-founder and president of Granite Telecommunications and a co-owner of the Boston Celtics, has a net worth of $5 billion. Despite their immense wealth, the Hales are aware of how lucky they are and feel they have a duty to give something back to their community.
They have a long history of charitable donations, but their most recent efforts have been focused on funding smaller charities that they believe need it the most.
By September of their first year, the Hales donated to more than 30 nonprofit organizations addressing a range of applications from cancer to environmental issues. They also donated to groups focused on shelter concerns in the Dominican Republic and projects aimed at providing access for Boston children interested in participating in volunteer projects. The Hales have also given millions of dollars to several Boston hospitals and organizations like Domestic Violence Ended (DOVE) and the Ron Burton Training Village.
The Hales have come to learn that many small organizations with worthwhile causes and initiatives struggle to raise money and support, which is why they make financial contributions as charity endowments to ensure that these organizations have the resources they need to maintain operations.
