A young mother with an infant strapped to her chest was screamed at by an elderly woman on the train after she took a seat in first class.
The mother was exhausted from standing and could find no where else to sit. She had paid for a normal ticket, but found a priority seat in first class. On this train priority seats are reserved for anyone who is disabled, elderly, or pregnant, regardless of the class of their ticket. No on else needed the seat, but the woman sitting beside it had placed her hand bag on the cushion.
Just looking for a place to rest, the mother asked the woman if she would move her bag. The older woman then starts screaming at the young woman. The mother protests and argues that she is a human being and should be respected. The old woman responds “you should respect your elders and betters.”
The argument starts to draw more attention from fellow passengers. As the tired mother finally sits down, the old woman tells her “I don’t want a screaming baby.” Surprisingly the little infant has been incredibly well mannered through the whole ordeal. His mother quickly responds, “he’s not screaming, he’s behaving better than you.”
More passengers get involved, some side with the old woman other with the young mother. Before the video cuts out one man can be heard asking the woman to leave the first class, while another argues that she has a baby and her precenes isn’t hurting anyone.
Another passenger in first class eventually offered the young mother his seat and chose to stand for the remainder of the ride. The old woman was able to put her bag back in the empty priority seat. The child never made a sound.
