The young girl was spotted by a driver near Dadeville, Alabama, who immediately called 911. First responders were able to provide the child with medical attention. According to reports, the girl had been drugged and bound to bedposts and suffered minor head trauma.

The brave little girl managed to break her braces and used them to help chew through the restraints holding her to the bed.

Authorities later made a grisly discovery of two decomposing bodies belonging to 29-year-old Sandra Vazquez Ceja and a 14-year-old boy whose identity was not released by authorities. Officers commented that the bodies were “cut into small pieces at the joints to hide evidence.”

José Pascual-Reyes, 37, was identified as the suspect. Pascual-Reyes was arrested and charged with first-degree kidnapping, three counts of capital murder, and two counts of abusing a corpse.

Angelina and Johnny spent 61 joyful years together and helped raise five sons. “I loved him dearly and he was quite a guy. I still feel his presence, I really do,” Angelina said of her late husband in an interview with CBS Boston.

She also mentioned that Christmas particularly special for their family. “It was just a funny feeling, he was around us at Christmas time. One of his favorite times of the year.”

This year Angelina couldn’t believe it when she received a letter from Johnny… almost 80 years after he sent it. The letter was written while Johnny was serving his country during WWII. It was originally addressed to his mother and written long before he ever met Angelina, but she couldn’t have been happier to receive it.

“I love it. I love it. When I think it’s all his words, I can’t believe it. It’s wonderful. And I feel like I have him here with me, you know?” she said.

“Give my love to the family in regards to all,” she read from the letter.

“Take care, love and kisses your son Johnny. I’ll be seeing you soon I hope.”

It all began when Rylee realized her period was late and reached out to her mom. Rylee was sure there was no way she could be pregnant, but her mother urged her to take a pregnancy test “just in case.”

In an effort to make Rylee more comfortable, her mom decided to take a pregnancy test, too. “This is great, let’s video it,” they thought. “It’s gonna be both negative, obviously, and then we will celebrate with some wine afterwards.”

The social media expert in Rylee prepped the scene, complete with celebratory wine for the moment when both tests show negative. The only problem was that neither woman expected mom’s test to come back positive!

“Oh my God! I’m gonna freaking cry!” she shouts.

A push to reduce sugars and other elements that can be harmful in excessive amounts in school lunches has emerged in response to concerns about the health of young children. While the intentions come from the right place, this particular school may have taken things a bit too far and Laura isn’t happy about it.

“‘I sent my 2.5 yr old son to school with this and the cookies got sent home because they’re unhealthy,” she wrote on Facebook. “There was 3 MINI cookies.”

Laura’s commentary above is a response to a story by Plymouth Live featuring teachers discussing the most unhealthy lunches they had seen parents pack. Cornwall Live featured that story on Facebook and asked parents to discuss the worst lunches they had seen prepared by a school. That’s when Laura shared her bizarre conflict with her son’s nursery school.

What’s so strange is that this lunch looks more than healthy with a large portion of fresh fruit and veggies along with some lean protein, cheese, and only a few carbs.

Other parents were quick to support Laura. “I work in a nursery and believe me, I have seen some terrible packed lunches in the past!” said one. “This looks perfect to me!”

“Looks like you took time and effort to his lunch ‘fun’ and appealing,” said Susan McGowan. “Absolute rubbish that he wasn’t allowed to get those small cookies. Everything in moderation surely.”

Beth Laitkep, Stephanie’s friend, passed away at the age of 39 due to complications from breast cancer. Stephanie and Beth went to high school together and rekindled their old friendship when Beth and her children moved back to Virginia from Texas.

When Beth was diagnosed with cancer she began chemotherapy. Sadly, she lost her battle with cancer after the disease spread to her brain, spine, and nervous system.

“She was a devoted mother, that was her thing,” Stephanie said in an interview with ABC News. “Her kids were her life and she loved them more than anything. She was a humble and very sweet girl.”

Shortly before her death, Beth reached out to her best friend with a life-changing request.

“She said, ‘I know you will do this for me, but can you raise nine kids? Can you take my babies, all of them and keep them together?'” Stephanie recalled. “I said, ‘I don’t know. I have to pray about this, I have to talk to my husband about this. We discussed it as a family and my kids were the first to say yes. They had gotten really close with [Beth’s] kids. My husband was like a deer in headlights, but he knew that this was what we had to do.”

Beth’s children have two different fathers, neither of whom opposed or contested the court’s adoption order.

Soon after the adoption word spread of Stephanie’s incredible act of kindness. She and her family were invited on the Rachael Ray show where they were gifted a $90,000 college fund for their 11 children and a full home makeover.

Roslyn was born with a muscle disorder that has perplexed medical professionals. Roslyn is officially undiagnosed at this point — we have exhausted science,” Tiffany explained. “She falls under an umbrella description called arthrogryposis, which means joint contractures and poor muscle tone.”

But Tiffany wasn’t going to let that stop her daughter from having a magical Halloween. “Roz is forever my little princess and she loves Disney, so we knew Cinderella was something she’d really want.”

Tiffany pulled out her craft supplies and got to work. “I just grabbed tinsel and ribbon, and we bought some lights that operated on a battery, hula hoops, and zip ties.”

“And it glows!” Roslyn added, excitedly.

All it took was a blue dress and some slippers to complete the costume. “I wanted her to draw attention in a positive way,” Tiffany said. “Sometimes, we get a lot of stares for different reasons.”

About a year later, Criss Rosenlof also submitted his DNA as part of his ongoing search for his long lost biological daughter. Shortly after his submission, an email appeared in Rachael’s inbox.

“I literally screamed and threw my phone across the room, which startled my husband,” she said in an interview with People magazine.

“After calming down, my husband sat with me while I read his email over and over,” she recalled. “A couple of hours later I managed to reply, and we started emailing back and forth to get to know each other.”

Rachael’s mother had gotten pregnant while she was dating Rosenlof and had put Rachael up for adoption. Rosenlof reportedly offered to support Rachael’s mother, but because neither were interested in marriage or a long-term relationship, Rachael’s mother went forward with an adoption.

“A few weeks later she called me and told me she had decided to put the baby up for adoption,” Rosenlof said to People.

“When Rachael was born I received a phone call from her mother telling me that she had delivered a daughter, and asking if I wanted to see her,” he added.

“I asked if she was still determined to give the child up for adoption and she said she was, and so I decided I did not want to see her because I didn’t think I could handle seeing her and then giving her up.”

But Rosenlof never forgot about his long lost daughter. He spent years looking for her, but couldn’t find any clues. The DNA test was his last-ditch effort.

“I took the DNA test, knowing it was a long shot,” he said in his interview. “There are several companies that offer DNA testing, and honestly, what was the likelihood that my daughter had even performed a DNA test, let alone done so through the same company I was using?”

Surprisingly, she had and a message appeared in Rosenlof’s inbox just weeks after his submission. “You can imagine my surprise that at the top of the list was a young woman who shared roughly 50% of my DNA with the relationship of ‘daughter.'”

The two were able to connect and agreed to meet for lunch, although Rosenlof admits he was terrified. “Was she going to be angry at me for giving her up for adoption? Did she have a good life? Did she even want to get to know me?” he said. “Rachael turned out to be a sweet, loving soul, easily more scared than I was.”

Rachael admitted she was equally nervous. “But once we started talking, we had so much in common! I had so much fun talking with him, even though I was still overwhelmed. Even then, Criss understood my anxiety and allowed me to go at my speed for everything.”

Both Rachael and her father’s families have met since their reunion and they learned Rachael grew up just a few miles from where Rosenolf lived. In an unbelievable coincidence, Rachael’s husband had already met Rosenlof at a Comic Con convention two years before the reunion.

“When I started looking for my biological parents, I knew that there was a possibility that I would find someone who didn’t want me in their lives,” Rachael said. “I was ready to accept that, as that would be their choice. I just wanted to know the why and know a bit of my history.”

“But to find someone who is so kind, and wanted me in his life and was actually searching for me as well, and welcomed my family and me in with such love is more than I could have ever asked for.”

Rosenlof is just happy to have his daughter back. “I know that adoption is actually the loving answer in some situations, and I’m glad that Rachael’s mom and I were able to provide a loving daughter for her new family,” he added. “I’m even happier that she and her family are back in my life.”

Deputy John Holt heard the woman’s son wailing as he arrived on the scene. The boy screamed, “she’s trapped under the sunroof!” The mother could speak, but she was having trouble. She said, “I can’t breathe.”

Deputy Holt tried to calm the young boy, who was visibly distressed seeing his mother in such a scary predicament. Worried that he would not be able to save the mother, the deputy attempted the impossible, and it was successful.

Thankfully, the shape of the ground and angle of the terrain allowed the officer to shift the flipped vehicle. He stood on a slight incline and forced all of his weight into the doorframe. This leverage opened the gap just enough to free her.

This wasn’t the first time Deputy Holt had to think on his feet to save a life.

“Deputy Holt never ceases to amaze us and has the unique ability of being in the right place at the right time,” said Sheriff Darrell W. Warren Jr. in a statement to People magazine. “Holt recently received the ‘Top Cop Award’ for our entire regional based on his rescue of two disabled individuals in a structure fire. A few years prior, he used his department-issued AED to save the life of a highway worker who had collapsed on the side of the road after suffering a major heart attack. As you can see in the video of the accident, Holt is calm in the chaos, confident and very professional.”
