Sometimes those big fish stories turn out to be true, and that’s when it pays to have a cameraman! While fishing off the coast of Florida for the television series BlacktipH Fishing, Joshua Jorgensen landed a 17 ft. long sawfish weighing more than 700 lbs. With a monster that size on the end of his line, there was little Jorgensen could do other than just hang on and hope for the best. He didn’t know what was on the end of his line, but once he realized it was an incredibly rare and endangered sawfish, he immediately contacted the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Researchers asked him not to remove it from the water, but to reel it in enough to take an accurate measurement before setting the big fish free.
