A 3-year-old girl named Victoria got lost in the woods behind her home on a cold February night. The family dog, Blue, escaped later that same day as the family was outside looking for the girl.
The entire town of Cordes Lakes, Arizona began a search. It spanned for more than 15 hours through the night. Eventually, a helicopter spotted the girl. The dog was crouching over her.
Blue, a Queensland Heeler, stayed with the girl throughout the night. He used his body heat to keep her alive. When medics got to the scene, Blue wouldn’t leave her side. The 3-year-old girl stood up and let the medics approach, and the dog did the same.
The girl experienced small bits of frostbite, which could’ve been more if it wasn’t for good old blue. The local sheriff’s office said of the incident, “The dog kept her alert, warm and gave her companionship throughout a very cold night.”
