A group of tourists visiting a Florida state park witnessed the incredible moment a horse protected his heard from an encroaching alligator.
The herd was comprised of about a half dozen adult horses and one small foal.
Krystal Berry was visiting the Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park, located 10 miles south of the University of Florida, when she caught the entire event on video.
The herd was grazing when a black stallion noticed the large reptile and suddenly charged forward.
A crowd gathered to watch the battle and one witness can be heard saying “Just leave him alone!”
The stallion returned to his herd after the alligator began making an exit toward the opposite side of the field.
Park officials checked the animals involved in the scuffle and told Berry that none were bleeding or showing other signs of injury.
