11-year-old Connor Fitz-Gerald and 5-year-old Alyssa Bostic were just some of the kids playing in the sand dunes one afternoon. Some kids were digging tunnels in the sand, and others were creating sand caves. One cave was just big enough for Alyssa to climb into.
Connor was digging a tunnel and noticed the little girl had climbed into one of the “caves” and it had collapsed on her. She was buried under the sand and couldn’t breathe. At the time, there weren’t any adults around and Connor knew he had to act fast. He began digging and was able to remove Alyssa, but she was unconscious. Connor then started to administer CPR. Adults soon arrived and called the paramedics.
Alyssa has since made a full recovery! The paramedics said if Connor hadn’t of been there, the situation could’ve been critical or even fatal.
