The Santa at the SouthPark Mall in Charlotte, North Carolina went above and beyond for a young autistic boy. A few photographs were taken of the moment when Santa took to the floor when the boy was too frightened to sit on Santa’s lap.
Erin Deely, the boys mother, said of the thoughtful gesture, “We would not have Santa pictures otherwise.”
It was during an event known as Caring Santa and put on by Autism Speaks and other organizations. The program offers children a chance for a visit with Santa in a safe environment.
His father Dan Deely said, “Social situations get very difficult for him so having the ability for us to come in and set up an appointment and give him an experience of a typical child is huge for him and huge for us.”
