One letter set-off a chain of events no one could’ve predicted at the Lafayette General Medical Center.
Jamie Fontenot was at the hospital when her 86-year-old father passed away. Soon after her father passed away, Fontenot heard music playing over the hospital’s PA system. It wasn’t just any music, it was a lullaby.
At Lafayette General Medical Center, there’s a button on the wall which parents push when a newborn is brought into the world.
When Fontenot heard the lullaby a family member had said it was her dad’s angel. Soon after hearing the lullaby, Fontenot began to write a letter to the angel’s parents.
The angel was Connie Despanie and Benjamin Hall son, Kingston Hall (he didn’t have a middle name yet).
Fontenot’s letter eventually made it to the Hall’s, it read:
“To my dad’s angel:
Even though I will never know your name, you are the first child born here after my dad’s passing at 10:41 a.m. approximately this morning.
When one life is taken, another is given – so you are the angel that I will relate with my Dad. I hope your life and the life of your family has as many blessing as my Dad gave me and my 8 siblings!
Please keep my dad in your prayers.
His name is James.”
Kingston now has a middle name, with an incredible story behind it.
Eventually the Halls and Fontenot were able to meet face-to-face. Let’s just say, there’s barely a dry eye in the room.
