Safe in Austin Rescue Ranch is an animal sanctuary in Texas that rescues and treats animals who have suffered severe abuse and neglect.
Such was the case for Halo, a Great Pyrenees who was born without front legs and abandoned in a box after a breeder decided she wasn’t worth keeping.
Luckily, Halo was rescued and adopted by Safe in Austin’s founder, Jaime Wallace-Griner. “We have animals that are blind or deaf, have diabetes, cerebral palsy, deformities, missing limbs, broken spines … they all become part of our family,” Wallace-Griner said.
For a long time, Halo got around by hopping on her back legs, but she recently received a pair of prosthetic legs made by OrthoPets.
Her reaction to the legs is absolutely heartwarming. “I have no words. I can’t believe it,” Wallace-Griner said on Facebook.
