Anyone who works or plays outside has encountered their fair share of what we will affectionately call “flying stingy things.”
While there are countless different species, different regions across our country will tend to call them all by the same name. As a Southerner, it’s not uncommon for friends and family to refer to anything with wings and a stinger as a “bee,” even though that particular flying insect may be anything from a bumble-bee to a bald-faced hornet.
