Last week a viral video was released showing a woman tossing a bag filled with seven newborn puppies into a dumpster. This week she has been identified, arrested, and charged with seven counts of felony animal abuse.
Deborah Sue Culwell, the 54-year-old woman allegedly responsible for throwing the puppies into a dumpster in 90°F heat, was handcuffed and escorted from her Coachella home.
Her arrest was made possible thanks to video evidence showing her shove the newborn pups into a dumpster behind an auto-parts store last Thursday. Authorities were able to locate Culwell after identifying her license plate number in the video.
Thankfully a homeless man heard the puppies crying and saved them from the sweltering dumpster. The puppies were taken to a foster home by a pair of good Samaritans who came to the homeless man’s aid.

You can clearly see the bag of puppies being dumped into the dumpster,” said Riverside County Department of Animal Services Chief John Welsh. “There’s clearly not a level of intelligence that’s going to be used if you’re going to toss animals.”
