The Titanic II is about to launch more than 100 years after the destruction of her namesake. The new ship will retrace the fateful voyage of the original Titanic sometime in 2022 reports Fox News affiliate Fox 4 WDAF-TV.
This incredible undertaking began back in 2012 for the centennial anniversary of the Titanic’s maiden voyage. Due to financial problems, the project was postponed for nearly a decade. Two years ago the Blue Star Line released some promotional images for the long awaited project that is now finally coming to fruition.
The Titanic II is nearly a complete replica maintaining the classic style of the original ship over modern advancements in seafaring technology.
The modern bridge, for example, is tucked away behind a full sized replica room complete with a non-functional wheel available for public viewing.
Passengers will be provided with period-appropriate clothing for their special cruise from Southampton, England to New York.
Take a closer look at their ideas for the ship compared to photographs of the original Titanic in the gallery and promotional video below.
