Sometimes you just need to take a break...

She spent 20 years in foster care while her Mom was in jail but her story takes a heartwarming turn

Nothing is more important than family. Some people don’t always understand that. Sometimes it’s people in your very own family.

Melissa’s Mom was in and out of jail and she had to spend most of her life in foster care. Melissa joined the Marines when she was old enough and found structure and a new strength of spirit. She wanted to share her life with the brothers, JJ and Christian, with whom she didn’t get to grow up on account of them being split apart and living in separate foster homes.

She wanted that to change and she asked a judge for full custody. After setting out on the 2,000 mile drive to Alabama to formally meet with the judge, she got the good news she was waiting for.

This is such a heartwarming story and it can bring a tear to your eye with the important message that it sends. So beautiful. Don’t you just love it?
