One woman must have quite the lucky streak.
When she opened up a giant clam, I doubt she expected what she saw. Finding one pearl would’ve been great, but the amount she found is crazy!
Pearls are a timeless gem symbolizing purity and beauty. They’re both classic and contemporary. Many people think pearls only come from oysters when in fact, pearls can be found in clams and mussels.
According to How Stuff Works, the formation of a natural pearl begins when a foreign substance slips into the mollusk between the mantle and the shell, which irritates the mantle. It’s kind of like getting a splinter. The mollusk’s natural reaction is to cover up that irritant to protect itself. The mantle covers the irritant with layers of the same nacre substance that is used to create the shell. This eventually forms a pearl.
Just wait until you see the amount of pearls in the clam. I think it’s safe to say she’s luckiest woman ever!
