UPDATE: Police confirm that there was a second terrorist involved in an active shooting 20 minutes away from the truck crash. At least one person has been arrested in the truck attack as confirmed by Prime Minister Lofven. It has not yet been confirmed whether or not the active shooter was connected with the truck attack.
At least three people have died and eight are left injured after a delivery truck drove through a crowd of shoppers on Sweden’s largest pedestrianized street at the Ahlens upmarket shopping center in central Stockholm around 14:00 GMT. Prime minister Stefan Lofven considers the attack an act of terror.
“We were in a store, it crashed into a window a few metres away,” an eyewitness told Swedish broadcaster SVT. “I heard glass breaking and screams. There are a lot of police and people everywhere.”

The truck was a delivery vehicle owned by the Spendrups brewery that had been hijacked earlier that day. The brewer reported the truck was stolen early Friday morning. Spendrups’ communications director Mårten Lyth told TT News, “It’s one of our distribution vehicles which runs deliveries. During a delivery to the restaurant Caliente someone jumped into the driver’s cabin and drove off with the car, while the driver unloads.”
