The true story behind Astro’s fan who stole Dodgers’ homer and threw it back on the field

During Game 5 of the World Series, the Dodger’s Yasiel Puig hit a ninth-inning home run into the stands of Houston’s Minute Maid Park. It was caught by Astro’s fan Sarah Head, but the moment became a viral sensation after her brother-in-law, Kirk Head, ripped the ball from her hands and returned it to the field.

The internet exploded with some insults aimed at both Kirk and Sarah. Kirk was quickly labeled a villain, but many viewers explained that a home run hit by the visiting team should always be thrown back and never kept as a souvenir. Some viewers called Sarah a “fake fan,” but it turns out she wasn’t upset about losing the ball.

“I would have liked the opportunity to throw it back myself,” Sarah said to Yahoo Sports.

After being informed that he was seen as the bad-guy, Kirk simply said “F*** the Dodgers.”

“We hugged and made up afterward,” Kirk later explained, but they’re not even yet. “We talked about giving her my Nolan Ryan signed bat and ball,” Kirk said after robbing her the chance to throw back the Dodgers’ home run just minutes before a monumental Astros’ victory.
