Veterinarian everywhere are warning pet owners about a danger that’s causing major wounds to their animals’ skin, ears, feet, nose, and stomach.
Foxtails are a special type of grass that grows a barbed seed head that’s incredibly dangerous to our pets.
During dry weather it’s incredibly easy for dogs and cats to inhale the seed head, but these dangerous barbs can just as easily be trapped in the animals’ ears, eyes, and throat.
The barbed heads look very similar to wheat, but are much stiffer. Dogs and and cats suffering from foxtails may shake their head violently or sneeze uncontrollably attempting to dislodge the painful barbs from their nose or ears.
