Mitchell Craddock and seven of his best friends had planned a cabin weekend in the woods for his bachelor party. Like most bachelor parties, no women were allowed, but they guys took an exception to this rule when an unexpected guest arrived – a weak, stray mama dog that needed help.
The boys had just finished cooking bacon for breakfast when one of them noticed a dog sitting at the open cabin door.
They took one look at her and knew she was in bad shape. Her ribs were visible and they could tell she was also nursing puppies.
The bachelor party stopped and a rescue party began. They fed her a quick meal from their breakfast scraps and then left in search for her puppies. They soon found seven little pups in a makeshift den. Without hesitation, the guys knew they had to help and brought the puppies back to the cabin. Forming an assembly line, the guys washed and fed each of the puppies and took care of mama.
Since all the men lived within five miles of each other, they decided to each adopt one of the puppies. Craddock’s grandparents adopted mama, who they named Annie, and one of her puppies, named Bear.
The other puppies, now known as Knox, Gunner, Brimmie, Finn, Rosie, and Daisy, were split up among the seven best friends. Now, when the guys meet up they always bring their dogs with them, keeping the whole family together!
