Earlier this week the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Department in Jacksonville, Florida became a viral sensation after this video showed a deputy responding to a domestic dispute while listening to the 1970s soul classic “Why Can’t We Be Friends?” by War.
Kimberly Anne Pryor recorded the incident as her friend argued with his neighbor near the intersection of 9th and Pearl streets. According to Kimberly, the event took place around midnight on October 23, 2017.
As the cruiser approaches, the peace officer’s blare the hilariously appropriate music over the PA system. Once he had their attention, the deputy asked the two men “What are y’all arguing about?”
Pryor’s friend, who remains unidentified, was accused of posting something to Facebook concerning his neighbor. Pryor’s friend insists he did not post anything.
The deputy managed to end the argument peacefully and no report was filed since no one was injured, arrested, or even cited. Pryor says she was impressed by the deputy’s ability to defuse the situation with humor.
“With so many negative things about police the way they handled it was wonderful” she said to News 4 Jacksonville. “It diffused the situation I think. This could have turned into something a lot worse.”
