We’ve all been there. Standing in line, ready to check out at the store and someone is holding up the line with their payment.
Sarah Bigler had the same exact situation happen to her after a long day at work. She stopped at her local Target with her two children to get some items. She chose the shortest line, thinking it wouldn’t take long.
In front of her was a little old lady that was paying for her total in coins. Counting them one at a time and handing them to the cashier slowly. At first, Sarah was frustrated and annoyed until she noticed how patient and how sweet the cashier was being with the old lady. He was counting the change with her to make sure she kept on track and was not showing any sign of frustration or impatience.
She also then noticed her daughter was watching the cashier and she realized at that moment, this young man was setting a better example for her kids than she could have been doing at that point.
The cashier, 20-year-old Ishmael Gilbert, states, “She kept telling me she’s sorry and I kept telling her, ‘You’re fine.’ I treat everyone with the same respect and I get it back in return.”
Sarah Bigler snapped a picture of the young man helping the lady and went on Facebook stating how incredible this young man was. Soon her post went viral and she and Ishmael were interviewed by a local news station.
Since then, Bigler was able to get Gilbert a job at the hospital that she works as a patient care technician. The hospital is also paying for his education so that he can earn his nursing degree.
What an incredible story with an incredible ending!
