Napa Valley is still recovering from the devastating wildfires that the ravaged California country side.
Home and business owners struggle to put their lives back together as they salvage what they can from the ashes, but not everything can be replaced.
Laura Ringenberger was one of the countless residents who lost their homes to the fire. While a house can be rebuilt, a life cannot. As Laura and her family evacuated their home, they desperately tried to find the family cat. Sadly, they couldn’t find her.
When it was safe to return, Laura began searching for her cat again. Laura flagged down an ABC News 10 reporter who was covering the Napa fire and asked if they would take her to her home.
Laura walked over the burnt ground calling “Here, kitty kitty.” Then something incredible happened. “She came out about 20 minutes after we got there. I called for her for a while. Eventually I heard her off in the distance, crying. It was really surreal,” Laura said in an interview with Love Meow. “The fact that she was OK, and she was right there. It was a crazy moment.”
