Jane Fine Foster was staring at a photograph of her own mother in the window of the store. At A Robin’s Nest antique store was a picture of her mother on her wedding day from back in 1948. The family had lost a number of their possessions more than a decade earlier through a mixup regarding a storage unit. She assumed the picture was gone forever.
Foster told KKCO News, “To say I was shocked, stunned, near paralyzed is an understatement. I actually screamed out loud. … I just kept blinking and looking again, like, ‘Can that be? Of course, it can be. It was my mom.’”
After the passing of her father, they put many items into an Arizona storage unit, when they missed a payment, the unit was auctioned off. Their photos and precious belongings were gone. It wasn’t for four months before the storage company even told them what happened.
Foster had to look twice. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing. But there was another surprise in store. The wedding dress her mother wore in that very photo was also in the store. Foster knew she had to have these precious items back and she asked how much it would cost.
The owner of the shop told her, “There is no price. It’s made its way back to you. It’s home.”
