Sometimes you just need to take a break...

Police weren’t happy when they saw how this woman was driving in the snow

An officer with the California Highway Patrol was livid when he saw one driver’s solution to icy roads. The driver didn’t plan ahead and was spinning out in the snow and ice. With no chains immediately available, the driver acted like MacGyver and worked with what was available, heavy duty zip ties.

The CHP in Truckee, California posted an image of the redneck tire chain with this message on Facebook, “Can officially say we have never seen this before. Seriously don’t be this guy! Zip ties! These will not suffice as traction control devices.”

Clearly these zip ties will not last very long on the highway, but they could help provide a bit more traction to get out of the muck and mire. They’re not that different from the ZipGripGo concept which was fully funded on kickstarter and now sold online.

You should always prepare for the worst and use the right tools for the job, but we’re still impressed with this driver’s can-do attitude!
