He’s keeping a 90-year-old history alive with one-of-a-kind Howard Johnson’s

We’re sure you remember Howard Johnson’s restaurants. You might even remember the nickname “HoJo.” They opened in 1925 and became one of the biggest chains in the country by the 70s, but faded away after that.

These days, some people have never even heard of the chain, let alone been to one. But John LaRock, a restaurateur who began his career as a dishwasher nearly 30 years ago, is working to change that. He’s spent more than $200,000 to open a Howard Johnson’s the way it is meant to be seen — in its original form.
