A pair of teenage car thieves from Maryland bit off more than they could chew when they tried to steal a car from a gas station. It turns out that driving stick isn’t quite as common among members of the younger generation. Luckily, the thieves were both caught after a short chase by the Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD).
The CCTV footage below shows the two teens running towards the car and pulling the owner out of the driver’s seat. They both jump in, but neither could figure out how to operate the manual transmission.
After a few stressful moments, the thieves realize they aren’t cut out for this crime and give up.
The two teens, aged 16 and 17, tried to run away, but were quickly apprehended. Now they’re both facing charges of carjacking and conspiracy carjacking. They are currently in jail without bond.
