A firefighter from DeKalb, Georgia is being called a hero after catching a small child who was thrown from the 3rd story of a burning building.
The incredible moment was captured on video by the helmet cam of a fellow fireman. The DeKalb County Fire Department shared the video below on Facebook last week.
New HD Video of Dekalb County Fire Rescue Department firefighters rescuing a dozen trapped occupants from an apartment with heavy fire involvement on arrival. Third generation DCFR firefighter Captain Scott Stroup can be seen catching one of the children that was dropped from the third floor balcony. Great job by all hands operating on this fire as several lifesaving grabs were made that night. STATter911.com
Capt. Stroup collapses to his knees after carrying the screaming child from the burning building. “We were catching babies like a football – literally,” he said to reporters. “There were adults that were on the balcony that were dropping their babies right into our arms. We had a couple firefighters catching babies, so it was just really incredible.”
Captain Jackie Peckrul also caught a child during the same rescue reports Fox News. “That was the only thing running through my mind… ‘Lord, let me catch this baby,'” she said.
