Heartbreaking news for fans of TV’s original “Batman” from the 60s

Adam West has passed away today at the age of 88. News broke just this morning. A representative for the actor says he was battling Leukemia.

West’s family made a statement that read in part, “Our dad always saw himself as The Bright Knight, and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans’ lives. He was and always will be our hero.”

West was the famed TV Batman during the 60s and has since had countless voice over roles in animated shows and recently appeared in an episode of The Big Bang Theory.

West had a career renewal after befriending Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane who gave him numerous roles in his animated comedies.

Born in 1928 in Walla Walla, Washington, he had been acting steadily since the 1950s.
