Sure, you can go to the store and load up on expensive candles or air-spritzers full of chemicals that have to be replaced every other week. You know the ones, you plugged it into an electrical outlet in the hall and it just sits there waiting to be refilled. What a pain.
You can find an easier, cheaper, and healthier option. We have it right here with this helpful little video. It shows how to make do-it-yourself air fresheners. It’s so cool!
You just need a mason jar with a lid, an empty candle container, some essential oils, and baking soda.
Start by making sure the empty candle container is clean and indeed empty. Add a bit of baking soda so that the candle container is about a quarter full and drip a few bits of essential oils on the baking soda. Mix it up and you have a perfect air freshener for a bathroom or a smaller room. You can even add a candle, like a tea light, to it for an extra bit of flair.
Another easy solution is to take your mason jar, put the lid on tight. Make holes in the lid, about five. Use a hammer and nail or whatever method you choose. You can add baking soda and essential oils and replace the lid. It’s a great way to get all the great fresh smell with less risk of somebody knocking over the mason jar. It has a slightly slower release because of the lid as well. Perfect for any room in the house.
