Janitor who walks miles to work falls to his knees when coworkers raise $7k for new car

Robert Reed works as a janitor at Germantown’s Farmington Elementary School. He’s had a big impact on the students and faculty during his tenure there.

Robert is noted for being a tireless worker who, even after completing his janitorial duties, looks for additional work around the school. He’s always willing to help and always has a friendly smile on his face.

Everyone at Farmington agrees that “Mr. Robert adds a little sunshine to our school.”

But there was one thing no one knew about Robert when he initially started his job: he didn’t have a car. To get to school on time, he had to take three buses and walk two miles, then another two miles home at the end of the day. He doesn’t generally arrive home until after 8 p.m. or later. But that hasn’t prevented him from bringing a smile to work every day.

His coworkers adore Robert to the point where they’ve taken him to the bus stop on certain days and even given him money for lunch on others. He’d hoped to establish a yard company on the side, but he couldn’t do it without a vehicle.

That is, until his coworkers went one step farther in their kindness and generosity.
