Whitney Matney was concerned when she noticed her daughter hiding whenever the nanny showed up for work. Melissa Medema, the nanny she hired, was a former classmate from high school, but Whitney learned the hard way not everyone can be trusted.
Whiteny set up a hidden security camera to see what happened after she left. When she came home and found the camera facing a wall her heart skipped a beat. What Whitney next saw made her sick.
The nanny had been violently spanking and shaking 1-year-old Raylee like a rag doll. As soon as she spotted the camera, Melissa turned it around. She tried to defend her actions claiming that they were ‘just playing,’ but Raylee’s screams tell a different story.
Whitney and her husband called the police immediately and the nanny was arrested that same day. Now Whitney is fighting to make sure no one else suffers the same fate as her daughter.
Raylee is now 3-years-old, and fortunately she seems to have made a full recovery from her abuse.
Whitney is sharing her story to raise awareness of child abuse and is actively trying to create a public child-abuse registry that would function like the national sex offender registry. Anyone criminally convicted of child abuse would be listed in the registry. Learn more about her nightmare and what she’s done to prevent child abuse in the video below.
