A contractor from Skiatook, Oklahoma has taken his love for fishing to the next level. While building other people’s homes, Paul Phillips realized he had everything he needed to make his dream home a reality.
The idea came to him after being denied access to his favorite fishing fishing spot on Lake Oologah. “One of these days I’ll have a place of my own and nobody can tell me I can’t fish there,” he said in an interview with his local news. So Paul bought a piece of land, rented a backhoe, and dug himself a pond. Now all he needed was the home to go with it.
Given that his idea was a bit unusual, he found a fellow contractor to help bring his idea to life. The living room of his 1,850 sq. ft. home has a large trap door in the floor beside the fireplace so Paul can drop a fishing line in the pond whenever he wants. He also has a deck at the back of the house that’s absolutely perfect for hosting fishing parties.
Paul’s neighbors were amazed at his dedication and his carpenter admitted that he had never done something quite like this before. Paul ultimately wants to sell his home so he can upgrade to a bigger house with a bigger pond and ultimately bigger fish.
