A massive tornado created the perfect backdrop for citizens in Alberta, Canada. The photo below was taken by Cecilia Wessels while her husband was mowing the lawn.
Instantly, skeptical viewers across the globe called the image a fake, but Wessels insists it’s the real deal. She told CTV News that her husband said he was “keeping his eye on the tornado” while he mowed. The storm was moving away from their house, so the Wessels weren’t in any immediate danger.

Wessels shared her photo with a few family members, but it quickly went viral. She visited with Edmonton’s local radio station Sonic 102.9 FM after reaching her 15 minutes of fame on the internet. Wessels sent another picture from a different angle to prove the moment’s authenticity.
CBS News reported that Wessels was woken from a nap by her daughter after her father refused to come inside. He said the storm was much farther away than it appears in the photo
A few other citizens of Three Hills, Alberta came out to take pictures and photos of the tornado. One uploaded an impressive time lapse of the event to YouTube.
