Ariel Koltes was starting to get worried. Every few days her mother Natalie would start packing their things, and then unpack them again. The 9-year-old girl soon learned that her mother was preparing for their inevitable eviction. Ariel wasn’t going to let that happen.
The Koltes family had lived in their Las Vegas home for three years. Natalie struggled to make it work, but she just couldn’t afford their increasing rent. The apartment managers had given her some leeway, but Natalie was running out of time. That’s when Ariel contacted the Fox 5 Surprise Squad.
The Surprise Squad was so moved by Ariel’s call for help they acted immediately. “Her mind right now is on her mom and how are they gonna make rent,” said Stefanie Jay, a reporter with Fox 5. “No 9-year-old should ever, ever have to worry about something like that.”
Natalie was completely taken by surprise when the Surprise Squad came knocking on her door. She had no idea what her daughter had done and was completely overwhelmed when a group of strangers helped save her family.
