The Iowa Nation performed a special traditional dance for they’re yearly Powwow. A powwow is a social gathering and includes dancing and other activities. A Marine joined in and the video is going viral.
Lance Corporal Marland Trey Kent, the Marine, was honored for his participation in the Iowa Powwwow which included him carrying an American flag in the grand entry back in June 20, 2014.
It was a planned event and he was asked to participate according to the uploader of the video, Hugh Foley, who wanted to clarify this fact for the record.
The Marine himself commented, “I was honored to carry the flag into the circle at a Pow Wow here in Minnesota about eight years ago. I am not a member of any tribe. I’m half German, and half Scottish. But that made no difference to the people that held that Pow Wow. I am a Veteran, and that was all that mattered.”
He said it was an honor.
