An 11-year-old girl is home safe and sound today thanks to the actions of a concerned citizen.
Sgt. Tommy Thompson of the Phoenix police reported that the armed citizen witnessed the suspect approach the girl as she walked to school near 19th Avenue and Bell Road on April 3rd.
In an interview earlier this week, Sgt. Thompson explained that the suspect grabbed the girl from behind and pulled her arm with one hand while covering her face with another.
As the suspect began giving orders to the girl, the good Samaritan intervened and knocked the suspect to the ground.
The armed citizen drew his firearm and ordered the suspect to leave. Fearing for his life, the suspect fled the scene westbound along Morningside Drive.
Police are currently looking for an African American male with a dark complexion, green eyes, and a stud-style nose piercing. The suspect was last seen wearing a black hoodie.

“Normally, that doesn’t happen in this kind of neighborhood. As you can tell, it’s kind of quiet,” said a neighbor in an interview with Fox 10 News.
