A New York woman totaled her car this week after seeing a spider on the front seat.
The frightened driver panicked and lost control of her vehicle, which left the roadway and crashed into a tree.
“After investigating today’s crash on Silver Spur Road we feel it necessary to bring up a contributing factor that is not covered too often,” the Town of Cairo Police Department wrote on Facebook.
“The operator panicked and crashed suffering a leg injury from the crash. We know that it is easier for some drivers than others but PLEASE, try to teach new drivers and yourselves to overcome the fear and pull over to a safe place.”
“Lives depend on it.”
“For safety measures should probably burn the car too,” an amused reader commented on Facebook. “Just to make sure it’s really dead.”
The driver was treated for her injuries, but her vehicle was a total loss. The whereabouts of the spider are currently unknown.
