Alfred Date, Australia’s oldest man, is 109-years-old and he’s been knitting since the 1930s. He’s found a passion creating adorable sweaters for penguins. After an oil spill in 2013 threatened the safety of Phillip Island’s penguins, Date began his penguin sweater campaign. Date’s sweaters help keep the penguins from swallowing poisonous oil in an attempt to clean themselves. The beloved grandfather of 20 admits that he has lost count of all of his great-grandchildren, but excuses some of his mistakes to being “a person who’s gone beyond the normal span of life,” he told the Daily Mail with a smile.
