Taylor and his sisters were adopted in 2003, but the adoptive family decided he had “issues” and gave him back. It was hard news for him to accept. “It was always somewhat my fault, but I didn’t realize that, you know, when I was growing up,” Taylor said.
For a decade, his Social Worker tried to get him adopted, but it was hard when he was considered to be a kid with baggage. He would get taken in for only a short time and brought right back. Taylor said of the whole ordeal, “I was just so mad because I thought that they weren’t going to keep me. I was just trying to test them.”
Connie, the social worker who never gave up, was determined. “All I could think about was how he was feeling and how he was blaming himself again.” That’s when the story takes a rather fortunate turn for Connie and Taylor.
Connie adopted Taylor herself, and while it hasn’t always been an easy run, it’s always been worth it. Taylor says finally, “This is where I belong.”
