At age 11, Victoria Arlenis was suffering from flu-like symptoms, fainting spells, and pneumonia. Within two weeks, she was paralyzed from the waist down, and her abilities began to deteriorate. Her family noticed she was less engaged because she had severe inflammation in her brain and spinal cord.
Things only got worse from there. Victoria lost her ability to speak, eat, and move. She had gone into a coma.
Victoria was able to communicate that she felt more and more trapped inside her own body. Doctors told her family that it was unlikely she would ever recover.
Her conditioned worsened, and for years Victoria’s fear of being trapped in her own body was a reality. Her family feared that she was brain-dead, but what no one knew was that Victoria was still very aware of her surroundings.
Then in 2010 she finally awoke and revealed to everyone that she had be conscious the entire time. This was only the beginning of her incredible story.
